Effective Care With Dr. Kim

Migraines are recurring headaches that cause moderate to severe pain. People who suffer from migraines frequently describe the pain as throbbing and focused on one side of their head. Additional symptoms of migraines include nausea and sensitivity to light or sound.

If you experience migraines on a regular basis, it can have a major impact on your life. To make matters worse, it’s not always easy to determine what’s causing them. Thankfully, Dr. Kim has experience treating migraines and he’ll work with you to determine the root cause of your symptoms.

What Causes a Migraine?

Dr. Kim has identified many issues that can lead to migraines. Some of these include:

  • A pinched airway
  • Cervical spine misalignment
  • Nutritional imbalances
  • Lack of sleep or excessive sleep
  • Changes in temperature or lighting in your environment

While all of these factors can lead to migraines, we’ve found that one of the most common causes is bruxism. This is a condition that involves frequently clenching or grinding your teeth. It’s usually caused by an abnormal bite or high levels of stress, and the majority of teeth grinding usually happens at night while you sleep.

Bruxism continually wears down your enamel and it can even lead to tooth loss without professional care. Another frequent consequence of bruxism is TMJ Disorder, which is also related to recurring headaches.

Getting the Help You Need

Dr. Kim features a number of options for treating migraines. One of our most effective remedies is called the NTI oral appliance.

Originally developed by Dr. James P. Boyd, this convenient appliance helps control your overactive jaw muscles and ease your pain. You’ll wear the NTI appliance over your upper front teeth while you sleep, preventing the majority of clenching and grinding from occurring.

Your NTI oral appliance is customized to fit the shape of your teeth. As soon as Dr. Kim determines it’s the right treatment for you, it’s fast and easy to start using the NTI.

As an FDA-approved product for the treatment of migraines, you can rest assured that this appliance is safe and effective.
