General Dentistry & Oral Hygiene

Getting professional dental care is just as important as practicing good oral hygiene. During a regular check-up, we’ll review your medical and dental history, take digital X-rays, and examine your teeth and gums. We’ll also provide you with a thorough teeth cleaning to prevent bacteria and plaque from building up.

Dr. Kim also provides a number of general services, such as:

How often should I get a professional dental cleaning?

It’s important to schedule check-ups every six months, or twice a year, to have your teeth thoroughly cleaned by our expert dental team. This will prevent plaque and bacteria from building up and developing into more serious problems, like gum disease or tooth decay.

Is it necessary to update my X-rays once a year?

Yes, we require patients to update their X-rays once a year, depending on their individual case. This allows us to examine your oral health and whether there are signs of gum or bone infections. Taking X-rays each year can prevent a root canal infection, excessive loss of tooth structure, and even bone loss.

If I'm missing a tooth, do I really need to replace it?

If you’re missing any amount of teeth, it’s important to replace them to restore their function and complete your smile. Tooth loss can make it difficult to chew and speak properly, and may lead to future oral health problems. These include bite problems, periodontal disease, tooth decay, and possibly even more tooth loss.

What are some of the benefits of dental implants?

Dental implants are a natural-looking, lasting solution for missing or damaged teeth. They’re designed to match the look and feel of your teeth, so you can eat and speak with ease. Implants are the only restoration that is secured to your jaw bone, providing a durable foundation and promoting healthy bone growth.

I have chipped teeth. How can you help?

If you have a chipped tooth, Dr. Kim can restore your smile with several cosmetic treatments, such as porcelain veneers and same-day crowns. During your initial consultation, he’ll examine the damage and recommend the best treatment for you.
