Dental Implants

Restore Your Smile With Dr. Kim

Dental implants are the only permanent solution for missing teeth. A single implant consists of three parts: the titanium implant fixture, a small connecting piece called the abutment, and a natural-looking porcelain crown.

If you’re missing more than one tooth or a full arch, Dr. Kim can use multiple implants to secure a customized bridge or dentures. No matter how many teeth you’re missing, dental implants can help you achieve the stunning results you’re looking for.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants offer a variety of benefits that other restorations can’t match, including:

  • Natural appearance
  • Anchored to your jaw
  • Restores chewing function
  • Easy to maintain
  • Never removed
  • Stimulates healthy jawbone growth
  • Can last a lifetime with proper care

The Dental Implant Process

Restoring your smile with dental implants is a three-step process that’s completed over the course of several months. During your initial consultation, Dr. Kim will examine your teeth, gums, and jaw to decide if implants are right for you.

Once he determines you’re ready, he’ll place the implant in your jaw and protect the surgical area. This begins the three to six month healing period when osseointegration occurs, the process of your implant fusing with your jawbone to replace the natural tooth root.

After osseointegration is complete, Dr. Kim will attach the abutment and restoration to complete your implant solution. At this point, you can enjoy all the benefits of a healthy and beautiful smile.

Dental Implant Candidacy

Any patient who wants to eat, speak, and smile without restraint may be a candidate for dental implants. An ideal candidate will have a dense jawbone and healthy gums.

If you suffer from jawbone resorption or gum recession, Dr. Kim may be able to help you qualify for implants with a supplemental procedure. The most common of these procedures are bone grafting and soft tissue augmentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do dental implants last?
Dental implants are extremely durable and can last up to a lifetime with proper care. Typically, they last about twenty to twenty-five years with the help of excellent oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups.
How do you take care of your dental implants after the procedure?
For the first week or so after surgery, it’s crucial to follow Dr. Kim’s post-op instructions. These will include limiting your diet to soft foods and rinsing out your surgical area with warm salt water after meals.

Once they’ve healed, implants can be maintained just like natural teeth, with daily brushing and flossing. For the best results, Dr. Kim recommends using a soft-bristled toothbrush and nylon floss, in addition to avoiding brands of toothpaste that contain abrasive ingredients.

Are dental implants safe?
Dental implants aren’t just safe — they’re the only tooth replacement that protects your long-term oral health. As long as your surgery is performed by an experienced, qualified dentist, you have nothing to worry about.
Does insurance cover my dental implants procedure?
Most insurance plans don’t cover dental implants, but they may pay for a portion of your total treatment cost. The amount can vary based on your specific plan and provider. Our staff will work with you to ensure you receive the maximum benefits available.
What do I do in the event of a complication with my dental implants?
Contact us right away if you experience any issues with your dental implants. Don’t attempt to fix the problem yourself, as this could result in permanent damage. Dr. Kim will provide the care you need as soon as possible.
